Where can I see Innovision in action?

Innovision demonstration units are carried by most of our installers. Please find a Official Innovision Installer in your area for more information. Alternatively, you may be able to find Innovision installed in a Showhome near you, keep checking back on this website to see what homes are currently open for viewing.

How much does an Innovision system cost?

The cost of an Innovision system varies from place to place depending on how many modules you want connected. For a reasonably significant level of security in a medium sized home  you would be working in the vicinity of $4000 to $5000 New Zealand Dollars for an installed system. This is highly reasonable considering it is recommended you should spend just under 10% of your building costs on security for your home. It also has significant benefits and cost savings over installing separate security, camera and/or automation systems.

Innovision contains the most useful functions of home automation, even though the entire system costs much less than a comparable stand-alone home automation system with a colour screen. Please find an Official Innovision Installer in your area to obtain a quote for installing Innovision in your new or existing premises.

Why is Innovision better than other security systems?

Innovision has many advantages over alternative systems:

How does Innovision compare to other home automation systems?

Innovision is designed to provide the more useful home automation features, and make them easy to use.

There are more complex and expensive home automation systems on the market. Many of their functions can be useful in some cases, but more often than not they are time consuming to learn, and prove very expensive when an installer is needed to come back and make a simple change to the setup.

Each Innovision automation module provides two 12V on/off outputs, which can be wired to switch practically any electrical device. The outputs can be manually triggered via the display, transmitter, or even from the remote interface. Alternatively they can be configured with other Innovision modules so that they turn on when the system is being armed or disarmed. Finally, the settings menu on the display module allows outputs to be turned on or off at preset times.

Is any extra planning required when installing Innovision?

Innovision can be installed using practically any 4 core wire. Pre-wiring is recommended for new premises, but installing Innovision in existing premises without wiring is no more difficult than installing any other security system.

When building new premises, some thought should be put into automation outputs early on because it is best to get your electrician to install relay outputs in the switchboard, rather than adding them later.

Extra modules can be added to an Innovision system, but the high speed digital communications bus is not compatible with analog cameras or detectors made by other manufacturers.

Can the cameras see at night time?

The cameras have auto white balance, so work in a variety of lighting conditions. However, they are not infrared capable so image quality reduces in low light conditions.

One solution is to connect at least one automation output to a light, as this will turn the light on when you arrive home at night, and also has the advantage of ensuring the camera images are clear.

Only the PIR sensor is used for triggering alarms, so the cameras do not affect the ability of the system to detect an intruder.

How big is a typical Innovision installation?

The system is highly flexible since the hardware is modular. A typical system would include:

How many modules can be connected?

Connecting more than eight cameras is not generally recommended, since the image frame rate will be reduced if many are recording images at the same time. The only other limitation is the power capability of the system. The typical system described above uses approximately half of the available power.
